Skiing in Washington State on Crystal Mountain

September 8th, 2016

There are many reasons to visit Washington State but for the winter sports enthusiast what better reason could there be than to visit the challenging ski resort of Crystal Mountain? During the winter months Crystal Mountain is ideally placed to provide snow-capped peaks of over 7,000 feet, standing proud below the towering Mount Rainier which climbs to over 14,000 feet.

The months of November to April bring several feet of fresh powder snow to Crystal Mountain, this being a reliable happening thanks to the cold Cascade storms common to this area. This factor alone makes a compelling reason to visit this first class Washington State ski area.

There are breathtaking views of Mount Rainier from the summit of Crystal Mountain. The area positively bulges with 2,300 acres of fabulous skiing and here you will find every kind of skiing you can imagine, making this the largest ski area in the state of Washington.

Of particular appeal to advanced and intermediate skiers who will enjoy 87% of all runs, there are some 7 runs for beginners which amounts to a generous variety for all levels. Intermediates are best catered for with 57% of all runs and of all the runs the very longest is called Northway and stretches for 2.5 miles or 4km.

With a definite bias in the distribution of trails towards the more experienced skier, lift capacity runs at 20,000 per hour. There are 2 high speed quads, 2 high speed sixes, 2 triple chairs, 4 double chairs and a surface lift for children. Despite leaning towards the more experienced skier, lessons are available and it is possible to rent skis and other equipment as required. This is also useful in the event of losses and breakages.

There is a Kids Club that is open from 8am to 4pm each day for children aged four to eleven years old. They will be well looked after while the experts in the family explore the remainder of the resort and experience the thrill of skiing the black diamond runs. The Kids Club supervises skiing on the appropriate slopes for their charges and there is also snowboarding available for children aged 7 – 11 years old. Children will learn while having fun and being supervised on the slopes while the remainder of the party can enjoy the challenging terrain that this Washington ski resort offers.

For those who enjoy back country skiing, Crystal Mountain has two back country areas which can only be reached by hiking. This is extreme and unforgiving terrain and the ski patrol has specific rules for those looking to ski in these areas. Covered mainly in thick woodland, North Backcountry does have some trails which have been cut through the trees.

The season runs from the middle of November to the middle of April, when the best snow fall is experienced. There are many places to choose for lodging, meals and evening entertainment. After a day of skiing, you should definitely head over to East Peak Massage & Fitness to take advantage of the hot tub, sauna, showers and even the games room. Massages are available with a reservation. In the summer of 2004, Crystal built the Campbell Basin Lodge, a Cascade-style lodge serving pasta, pizza, soups, teriyaki, burgers, salads, Mexican food and more.

For a superb vacation skiing in Washington State this is a great place for the family. Everyone can have a great experience at Crystal Mountain, even though the slopes are more for intermediate and expert skiers. Novice skiers can have fun as well as long as careful attention is paid to the grade of slope attempted.

Kerry Devere is a great fan of holidays in the mountains and in particular thrashing the red runs. Before you plan your next ski safari, read more of her ski destination reviews.

Your Choice Of Radio Controlled Toys

September 6th, 2016
by ico

Radio controlled toys consist of such an extensive selection to choose from. In fact, different types and models are continuously being produced, dependent upon the demand and requirements of trends and new fads. From radio controlled cars, trucks, boats, planes, helicopters and many more types which have been manufactured as a result of a popular cult figure.

So, the first decision has to be made on what type of remote control model you are looking for. Whether it is for yourself or someone else, a newbie or experienced, child or adult: all these factors have to be considered.

Dependent upon the type of model selected, you now need to study the options available. Obviously, if it is a radio controlled car, then you will have an abundant selection to choose from and may find this somewhat daunting, if completely new to radio controlled toys. But, should a boat, airplane or helicopter be your choice, then the range might not be as extensive.

Another option that needs contemplation is, do you opt for a nitro or a battery powered radio control toy? Again, this is probably conditional on whether you are new to this hobby, or more experienced and, if so, will be familiar with the specifications and operation of the various models. Cost will also conclude whether you buy a nitro, or battery powered RC controlled toy. As nitro radio controlled toys are more expensive to run than the battery powered versions, because nitro toys require the purchase of liquid fuel too.

Of course, the scale of the model of radio controlled toy will also have a bearing on how expensive the overall running costs will be, as it goes without saying, that larger scale models will use more power.

Then if you decide upon battery power, you will need to choose either rechargeable or standard type. Yet smaller RC toys can normally function on AA batteries and usually the control uses a 9-volt battery. Another point to take into account is whether you have to purchase batteries separately, or if they are included with the RC toy. This information will be available with the model description advertised.

The range the RC toy is capable of operating within, is another factor to take into account. This varies, once again, for the different models, but will be illustrated in the product advertisement.

Once you have all the necessary information, based upon your requirements, then you will be able to make your purchase. If you are the new owner of a radio controlled toy, your enjoyment will begin, and this will involve you in the world of remote controlled machines at their finest.

Radio Communication: Five Reasons to Learn More

September 5th, 2016

The world is filled with invisible communications, from remote controls to television, radio, cellphones and even your wireless phone at home, communication surrounds us, but most of us know little about it. Each one uses radio waves to communicate, but which is the most useful? Should we all try to know a little more about radio?

Radio is outstandingly useful in cases of emergency. Most home radio’s can be powered from a something like a car battery and use relatively small amounts of power. In an emergency situation a power outage can mean radio is the only reliable means of communication. Cellphones depend on more than just their internal batteries; they also rely on the network of cellphone towers. If these have also lost power the network is useless. Radio, on the other hand, relies on nothing. As long as you have power you can broadcast and receive. This makes radio especially useful to anyone living in an area which is prone to natural disasters.

If you enjoy hiking or camping in the more remote areas, there are still many parts of the Untied States which don’t have good, or even any, cellphone coverage. Carrying hand held radios will help you keep in touch with the rest of the world, receive warning of any severe weather events, and give your the ability to summon help if needed. A sprained or broken ankle is, by most standards, a minor injury. It can become a major problem if you can’t get help. Unable to move, you could easily die from exposure to sun or cold, depending your location.

Anyone venturing into the unknown or inhospitable, or even somewhere just a little outside normal human contact needs to carry a radio, and to know how to operate it. Radio telephony is part of the training for even the simplest pilots license; the first radios were installed in ships as early as 1900 and their contribution to safety at sea cannot be overemphasised.

If you travel a great deal and want to keep in touch, sometimes with home, but mostly just with another human voice on long boring journeys, CB radio will help you do exactly that. Cellphones can’t help you communicate with the car in front, or any other CB radio operator within range, because you don’t know their cellphone number. Radio will keep you in contact and keep you advised of any emergencies in your area. Most CB radio’s also have weather alerts to let you know of any approaching storms.

One other group which benefits from radio is the dedicated radio amateur who wants to make a difference. These are men and women from all walks of life who monitor the airways for emergency communications and co-ordinate with rescue and emergency services. ARES (the Amateur Radio Emergency Service) is an organisation for licensed radio amateurs to help provide radio communications as needed, often for local, public events as a way of practicing for emergencies. ARES membership is open to anyone with an amateur radio license. The organisation is national, but is organised at a local level and gives anyone the opportunity to be a hero, just by sitting and listening.

Two Way Radio in an Age of Cell Phones

September 4th, 2016

Late in 2009 a woman was injured when her ATM rolled on top of her. Fortunately she wasn’t alone but her companions weren’t able to get help because they were travelling in, a remote part of Arizona and had no cellphone coverage. All was solved when her colleagues flagged down a car which happened to belonged to Hal Whiting, an experienced radio ‘ham’. ‘Ham’ or amateur radio enthusiasts are all over the world and have tudied emergency procedures.

A brief look at a map of cellphone coverage will show you that there are still many areas where cellphones are essentially useless. As a result there is one piece of equipment you should never leave home without if you are visiting one of these more remote areas, and that’s a radio. If you’re a resident, you probably understand the remoteness of your area and travel prepared, with extra food and water for example, and perhaps using more than one car. Visitors, however, often underestimate the power of nature and, especially if they come from cities may not realise how patchy, even non existent cellphone service can be.

Just last year, Hal Whiting, an amateur radio ‘ham’ from Utah, was travelling with friends in Arizona. Knowing the remote nature of the area he had taken his own precautions, but around 70 miles into his trip he was flagged down by another motorist asking for help as there was no service for his cellphone. Learning that the situation was an emergency, Whiting, the radio ‘ham’ broadcast for help; a woman had been injured when her all terrain vehicle had rolled on top of her; she was now conscious but in a lot of pain.

Whiting eventually reached a radio operator called McGee who lived some 50 miles from the accident. McGee called 911 and explained the problem to the Sheriff’s office who asked for GPS co-ordinates to the accident site. No-one could provide those, so Whiting’s co-driver drove to the site of the accident, using Whitings hand held radio’s to stay in touch with the rest of his party and, when he arrived, to relay information on the woman’s condition to Whiting who then relayed them by radio to McGee who relayed them to the 911 dispatcher. A helicopter was sent to take the woman to hospital in Las Vegas where she later recovered.

So many things were necessary to give this rescue a happy ending. We take communications for granted, but without them, even small incidents can become serious. Had Whiting not had his radio equipment with him, had McGee not been listening at the other end, had Whiting not had hand held radios available and working, the situation might have been very different. Cellphone coverage is not universaland, however with cb radio and amateur radio well established emergency guidelines are in place. Also as we have seen, as far as ham radio, someone is always listening. Do you need to know more about amateur or CB radio?

If you would like to learn more about CB radio or 10 meter radio you can visit us at meter radio has become more popular because they offer greater power than a traditional CB radio.

Some pictures taken at the DC Loves Dilla – 9th Annual Tribute and Fundraiser Concert held at the Howard Theatre in Washington, DC on Thusday, July 17, 2014 by Mary Nichols (DJ Fusion of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast).

James “J Dilla” Yancey was a GRAMMY award-winning producer who inspired millions with his music including artist like Common, Raekwon, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and many many more. On February 10, 2006 just three days after his 32nd birthday, J Dilla passed away after a long time of suffering with Lupus.

Cultural Curator Munch Joseph and HedRush Music created the DC Loves Dilla movement as a way to celebrate J Dilla and honor his career works. "Carrying on the musical legacy of J Dilla for the 9th year and counting is something HedRush and myself look forward to. Personally, it’s my way of paying homage to a great creator as well as doing our part to continually add balance to urban music. Dilla’s music accomplishes that on many levels," says Munch Joseph when asked the motivation behind the Tribute Concert ad Fundraiser.

Reviving the Radio Industry through the Internet

September 2nd, 2016

Music has been considered a necessity for almost every person. Whether they are on their way to work or school, sitting in a quiet room and even before sleeping music has always been there. Especially today, there have been a lot of changes in the kind of lifestyle the people have because of technology. New and advanced ways have been created to help people experience music whenever and wherever they go. Every person today have their own mp3 and iPods to keep them entertained every single day, because of that the radio industry has started to get affected. Lesser and lesser people listen to radio shows now compared to before. They didn’t find the need to turn on the radio just to listen on radio shows that play their favorite songs, because with just a click on the computer they can now download it and store it in their iPods. However good that may sound there are still people who are looking for the kind of music radio different radio shows offer.

Today, along with technology there has been a huge step taken by the radio industry in keeping up with the kind of lifestyle every person experience. Since every person today already knows and somehow depends in the use of the internet, someone started crossing the bridge connecting radio shows and anyone through it. The creation of the website has started connecting the gap between people not only in one country but in other parts of the world as well. Make Your Radio Advert Campaign Successful

September 1st, 2016

Radio is the new advertising medium. It enjoys a great reach and offers cheap advertising too. However just using radio as an advertising medium alone does not ensure success. You need to take certain further steps to make your radio advert campaign successful.

To start with, you need to make a good ad for your ad campaign to be successful. Even if you’re using all the right advertising methodologies, you cannot be successful if you have produced a bad quality ad. There are two basic essentials that you need to produce a good radio commercial i.e. A good voice and a good script. You need to be sure that your script captures the notice of your audience direct from the start. For instance, if you are advertising a new back pain relieving medicine, you can begin from highlighting its efficacy.

You must be terribly clear of the section of the folks you are aiming to target. You must know that’s becomes easier to design an advertising technique when you know your target population well. For example, if you wish to advertise skin care creams like the Exposed Skin Care System then it would best to put your ad on air on the station which has majority of female listeners. Be intellectual enough to see that your ad doesn’t go on air on a unfit show ; a Christian book going on air on a show that is about handling sexual issues would be ridiculous. You can’t afford to make this error because it would rather de-popularize your product.

The frequency of your ad is another critical factor that comes into action to attract attention to your advertisement. By frequency we mean the number of times your ad goes on air. It is for apparent reasons that an ad that has got a higher frequency would be more preferred among the folk than the one with a lower frequency. If you continually hear something you are bound to get the hang of it. In case you are advertising a yoga studio, it is less sure to get noticed if you do not increase the frequency of the ad.

Though radio adverts are quite economical, you should still see that each penny that you pay is worthwhile. Always compare and recheck the costs before concluding the last quantity of payment. There could be offers with low rate existing in the market. Go for these if they suit you. First and third quarter ad rates are sometimes inexpensive.

Keep in mind the above listed suggestions to make your radio commercial campaign a big success.

Here are a few more ways to know about Exposed Skin Care System and Back Pain Relieving Medication.

Washington DC – Too Much to See and Do

August 31st, 2016
Washington Radio
by ep_jhu

Washington DC is a city rich with history and offers a plethora of things to see and do. It’s been years since I last went to Washington DC, but the memory has been ingrained in my mind for a lifetime. I was fortunate enough to be in our capital during the 4th of July. One thing is for sure. Washington DC sure knows how to throw a party! It only makes sense that Washington DC has a spectacular 4th of July fireworks show. It wouldn’t make since for the capital of the United States to be outgunned. Thousands flock to Washington Square along the lawn to see the event.

The greatest thing about Washington DC is there are so many things to do and see for free in the city. Most of the memorials cost nothing. I hope I get a memorial as ornate as some of our former presidents. The Lincoln Memorial is a must see WWII Memorial situated near the reflecting pool. The Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall, a place of mourning for many visitors. The wall lists all the names of the verterans and is understandably covered with flowers much of the time.

History buffs will also want to see the original Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights at the National Archives. I’m not a big history person, but the experience was surprisingly interesting

A must see if you are visiting Washington DC is the Arlington National Cemetery. They have a changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns. The guards change every hour on the hour. If you can’t make it to London to view the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, this is the next best thing.

Another must is to visit the Smithsonian Museums, again, all free! The museums I would recommend viewing are the National Air and Space Museum where you can learn all about aviation. The Smithsonian Institute even has a zoo you can visit.

Our capital is filled with fun and free things to do for the whole family. Maybe you can take that vacation after all.

Listen to Radio Stations in the Internet

August 30th, 2016

There are a lot of ways on how to enjoy the different radio stations in your place. Because of the development of technology, there are innovated ways on how to do this and one of which is through the internet. Since one can see how people rage about the internet, it is just right for other things to adjust and try to see how the use of internet affects their work or business. Through the internet, a creation of a website called the LiteRadio is made to give the people a different taste of music with just a click on their computer. They don’t have to wait for the chance for them to listen on the radio inside their cars, because even at home they can just turn their computer’s speakers on. Because of this website the chance for DJs to be heard not only in their country but also around the world is possible. They don’t have to worry if someone is still listening to their show, because it is for sure that someone out there at the other side of the Earth is enjoying their show.

The LiteRadio is created with a huge number of radio stations that they support from different countries all over the world. The website focuses in giving different kinds of genres of music, and at the same time does not only focus in one generation. This website gives tribute to classical music along with those that are at the number one chart. They can easily be played with simple software in the computer without having to pay too much. Another advantage in using this website is that there is no registration fee that needs to be considered. The whole process will start anytime you want, since there is no need for you to signup. All you need to do is just to click on the country you like, whether it’s your country or not and then click on radio stations. After that you are all set, you can now listen to any type of song without the hassle of downloading it. You also don’t need to worry because there are people behind the website that you can contact if there are problems that arise. They can also be contacted if there are questions and suggestions regarding the website. The best thing that a lot of people like about this website is the fact that it is made to cater to a lot of countries. It gives a chance for people to understand and learn the kind of music there is in a certain country. This also helps people see the kind of wonderful change that innovation has brought to the lives of the people.

The has become of the best websites created not only because they way to bring about change. Also because they want to help the radio industry in its continuous development and the music industry. One can see how music can also step up in this kind of fast change.
