Do Your Research: Creating an Evidenced-based Human Service Program

Strength-based practice is essential in program development as it challenges an organization to ensure that a partner-based synergy is infused into every aspect of a program from company representation through paperwork to staff training. This session will present an overview for designing your program services based on research. It will also cover internal monitoring techniques that will assist you in ensuring that you are fulfilling your mission and offering high quality services.
About the Presenter:
Belinda James, MSW, MOFDC

Belinda James is a passionate advocate for children, youth and families. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, a Master of Social Work degree from The Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, a Missouri Family Development Credential from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Currently, she counsels women who are homeless, pregnant and may have dual diagnosis issues of mental health and chemical dependency and/or extensive trauma backgrounds. For the past 15 years, Belinda has also been facilitating youth leadership programs, conducting parent education workshops and providing staff development training in the areas of mental health, communication, customer service, group dynamics, motivational interviewing, the art of de-escalation, and trauma recovery. She has also been an adjunct instructor with The Brown School of Social Work through Washington University in Saint Louis.
