Since January, members of the Clergy Caucus have meet regularly in order to organize a series of Action meetings for legislators this coming November. Members of the Caucus have researched issues related to the creation of a moral economy in Vermont, including tax structure, livable wage, and union organizing. We are in the process of preparing a research paper which will be shared with clergy throughout the state and then presented to our leg islat ors at the November Action meetings . At this point , we are reaching out to friends and colleagues to inform you of the basic plan as a “save – the – dates” kind of communication.

For these meetings , we do not expect folks to travel outside of their own regions, but we do hope to have a sizeable turn – out of clergy from the areas where meetings will be located.

Then on Thursday , November 20 th , 9:30 – 11am we are asking clergy folks in Vermont to come together in Montpelier (location TBA based on number of participants) so that we can introduce our call for a moral economy to the public and the members of the General Assembly who will be convening again in January. We hope a broad range of denominations and religions from e very region of the state will be represented at this event . Press will be invited to attend and a light breakfast will be served. In order for these meetings to be successful, we need a strong presence from faith leaders across the state.
