Question by Jamerican Steve: What will happen to the Wamu Theater?
What will be the future of the Wamu Theater now that the government seize control of Washington Mutual?

Same thing that happened to Enron Park – which is now Minute Maid Park, I think…
And the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, formerly the Fleet Center, and briefly the Shawmut Center…

The company probably paid up-front for naming rights that would last a certain number of years. Or perhaps they were paying in installments…

So when the contract runs out, or possibly sooner, the theater company will probably be looking for a new sponsor, one willing to pay for naming rights. Plenty of companies would probably be willing to pay for the publicity.

    It wasn’t until a few days ago that I found out that the theatre at Madison Square Garden is AKA WaMu Theatre. I think it’ll keep the name just like the banks have.
