Frequency is the RATE (also called period) that the radio wave changes cycles. In the example you’ve described, the radio wave changes cycles 98,300,000 time PER SECOND 98.3 Mega (million) Hertz (time persecond). Given this frequency, this is am FM radio signal, because the FM radio is limited BY LAW to be within a certain range of frequencies.

AM radio stationsa re in a different set of frequencies, about 550,000 to about 1,600,000, or 550 Kilo (thousand) cycles (hertz) to 1600 kilocycles.

The FREQUENCY is how radios determine one station from another. Television use the same idea, but pictures are transmitted instead of sound only
