Washington Redskins Tickets Available

Based in the Washington, DC area — the Redskins are a professional football team which was established back in 1932, 1933 they started playing as part of the Eastern division a venture which extended until 1949, from 1950 to 1952 they were part of the American conference, from 1953 to 1969 they played under the Eastern conference and most recently from 1970 until today they have been part of the national football conference East division.  Their home-field is a FedEx Stadium, the team owner is Dan Snyder, and the head coach is Jim Zorn.

Championships and important moments:

The Washington Redskins has been a historic team which has had a great deal of accomplishments, they have been conference champions in five different occasions (1972, 1982, 1983, 1987 and 1991), they have been six-time champions in both the NFL and the NFC East divisions in years that span from 1936 all the way to 1999.  To complement their success they have also been NFL champions twice (1937 in 1942) and three-time Super Bowl champions, and the 1982 season they defeated the Miami Dolphins by a score of 27 to 17, in the 1987 season the crushed the Denver Broncos 42 to 10 and during the 1991 season they came out victorious after defeating the Buffalo Bills by a score of 37 to 24.

With a completely unique training style head coach of the Redskins Jim Zorn is expected to help the quarterbacks improve their abilities under constant attack and tough situations, the recent drills he has been seen throwing big bags at the quarterbacks in order to simulate a scenario where a player of the opposite team gets to tackle quarterback.  The team has high expectations of the new quarterback Jason Campbell but it is highly confident on the overall performance of the team and individual records achieved by their players such as Chris Cooley a player who has for the first time in NFL history with at least six touchdowns receptions in each of his first four seasons.

Unfortunately for Cooley who got married in May 23, his honeymoon was cut short (according to the player) and he is back training with the rest of the team in order to be in top shape for the 2008 season which is quickly approaching.

Based in Washington, District of Columbia, United States – The Washington Nationals is a member of the East Division of the National League of Major League Baseball. The Nats are a professional baseball team.

Founded in Montreal, Quebec in 1969, the Montreal Expos was an expansion franchise that became the first major league team in Canada. Their success rate then made the Major League Baseball think if the team should be shut down, along with either the Minnesota Twins or Tampa Bay Devil Rays. They left for Washington and became the Nationals in 2005. The name Nationals was the same name used by other previous baseball teams in Washington. The name Nationals is used interchangeably with “Senators”. The team was nicknamed “The Nats”.

Until it was sold to the Lerner family, the legal name of the team, despite being popularly known as Washington Nationals, was Baseball Expos, LP.

This move was met opposition from the Orioles. The Baltimore Orioles have been the only Major League Baseball franchise in the area of Baltimore to Washington. Peter Angelos considers these areas as a single market. Possible financial problems were the reasons for this opposition. As a deal, the Major League Baseball decided to give the Orioles security by letting them handle both the television and radio broadcasts. The Orioles formed another network, the MASN and it was not immediately available in cable. The deal calmed the Orioles; however, this made the Nationals as the only member of the Major League Baseball who doesn’t have their own broadcast rights.

The Nationals have once won the East Division championship, in 1981 when they were still the Montreal Expos. The Nationals managed to win one CY Young award, two Rookies of the Year awards, two Batting Championships, and three Earned Run Average championships.

Washington Nationals recent news:

Washington Nationals fired five coaches, Manny Acta’s staff, after the last season. In the last season, the Nationals finished last which brought the Nats to ‘overhaul’ Acta’s staff.

The Nationals have first stated their interest in hiring Willie Randolph as a bench coach of Manny Acta or third-base coach. Personal issues were brought up regarding this, but Acta’s friends have stated that the latter will not be affected by tension.

The Nationals are in need of starting pitcher. It is still yet to be known if the team can acquire a free agent or if they have an interest in trade-ins.
