Fundraiser Dinner – Turkish Festival
Event on 2016-09-22 19:00:00
The American-Turkish Association of Washington D.C. is proud to present the 14th Annual Turkish Festival, offering a day of free activities including dance, music, cuisine, fashion and arts & crafts. Every year, the festival draws tens of thousands of Washingtonians to the streets to enjoy delicious Turkish food and traditional Turkish coffee, to browse and shop at the Turkish Bazaar, and to watch mesmerizing stage performances. This year, once again festival goers will have the opportunity to journey from Washington D.C. to Turkey through experiencing Turkey’s rich cultural history, its culinary delights, and a variety of live Turkish music and engaging folk dance performances. The festival will also reach beyond Turkey’s borders featuring the rich cultural presence of the Balkans, Central Asia, and the Middle East. The Turkish Festival is a community event. It is organized, delivered, and financed by the Turkish American community and businesses in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. Each year, ATA-DC’s Festival Committee works hard to develop a more attractive event so as to increase the number of visitors and thus, to more fully accomplish our event's mission. Over the years, these efforts have paid off, and the festival now has more artists, more food vendors, and more retail vendors than in previous years. In 2009, for the first time ever, the Festival received a grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. As ATA-DC is preparing for the 11th Annual Washington, DC Turkish Festival, they are proud that this exciting, colorful, and rich event has become a DC tradition that contributes to the city’s ethnic, cultural and religious diversity For more information on Turkish Festival, check out their website at http://www.turkishfestival.org/

About a new man's burning need to keep his tiny hometown and tumultuous family members in search of an improved life, the task gave evidence of their genius and established a strong legacy. The novel follows the trajectory of Eugene Gant, an excellent and restless son whoever wanderlust and passion form his adolescent years in rural North Carolina. Wolfe said that Look Homeward, Angel is "a guide made out of my entire life." His mostly autobiographical tale concerning the search for a larger intellectual life has resonated with and influenced generations of readers, including some of today's vital novelists.
