Question by pdooma: How do you feel about a private donor giving the money to repair the Washington Monument?
The Federal government doesn’t have the money to repair the monument and asked for someone in the private sector to donate the funds. David Rubenstein is writing a check.
He founded the Carlyle group, which is a global private equity group. He is the 1%.

It’s a good thing he stepped up because we know there’s absolutely no way that House Republicans ever would have approved the funding.

I have a non-profit theatre company in Washington, DC, and we are trying to develop some resources. How and where does a company find a serious backer or philanthropist?

try government officials. Get someone from the newspaper to come and interview you about your theatre and what it is doing and how it needs a finacial backer.
