Question by Homeboy: The National Radio Institute in Washington has closed down. So where do you go now?
The National Radio Institute in Washington, taken over earlier by McGraw-Hill and renamed the National Radio Institute McGraw-Hill Continuing Education Centre, was closed some years ago. In the past, the National Radio Institute advertised that you could do correspondence courses with them in How To Fix Appliances, Basic Radio Servicing and things like that.
So where does one go now?
I know you can get CDs with the old NRI courses, but these will unfortunately be a bit outdated now. I would like to know where you can get the modern equivalent of the NRI courses.
I’m semi-retired and work from home, and I can’t go out to any part-time courses or colleges. I live in South Africa, and there’s probably not much available locally anyway.

Google “correspondence courses” to see several options. I also tried “appliance repair courses” and found some correspondence courses listed. You will want to do a bit of research to make sure it isn’t just a place that takes your money and gives nothing in return. Good luck.
