Hand Crank Radios

Hand crank radios are an item that every family should have in their emergency kit. These can provide vital information to you if you are caught in a natural disaster and are cut off from conventional radio and T.V.

What are Hand Crank Radios?

A crank radio is very much what it sounds like. It is a radio that has a crank on the side or top. Instead of plugging this kind of radio in or putting disposable batteries into it, you use the crank to charge the battery that is in the radio.

There is a tiny generator in these radios that includes a magnet and a metal coil. When you turn the crank, the magnet or coil moves, and this creates electricity which is sent to the battery. These radios don’t hold a charge for a very long time, but they don’t need other sources of power.

What Should I Look For in Crank Radios?

Any radio that you buy should get both AM and FM stations, since you want access to the widest possible range of radio stations. Also check into the kind of charge that the radio holds. The average radio will run for an hour or so after about 30 seconds of cranking, so you don’t want a radio that holds a charge for less time than this.

Something else to look for is high quality. You should find a radio that looks like it is well made, and preferably is water resistant. If you are faced with a natural disaster or other emergency you don’t want your radio to die just because it got a sprinkling of water on it!

Better quality hand crank radios may also have other features on them such as a flashlight or lantern, a siren, or a couple other things. They often also have a small solar panel on them that charges the unit during the day.

Buy What You Can Afford

Too often, people buy <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link/4817205']);” href=”http://www.emergencyradiosonline.com/”>hand crank radios</a> like the ones you can find at any bargain store. They pick it up for a few dollars and figure it will be good enough.  The problem is that if you need one of these radios in the case of an emergency, you don’t want to be depending on a cheap one that was good enough.

Getting information in a time of emergency could be the difference between life or death for you and your loved ones, so you need to look into crank radios that are reliable.

Nice radios that will last for years and will work when you really need them to are not cheap, but they are well worth the money you spend. Don’t break your bank to get a hand crank radio, but buy the nicest one that you can afford. If you ever need it in a crisis, you will be glad you did.

There are many crank radios available, and so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding one or two that are perfect for your family’s needs. Hand crank radios aren’t a huge investment, but they can give you a lot of peace of mind.

Lady Gaga Tickets ? She’s Got ‘Alejandro’ on Hand for Monster Ball Tour

Lady Gaga Tickets ? She’s Got ‘Alejandro’ on Hand for Monster Ball Tour

It isn’t like Lady Gaga is starving for attention, but the eccentric pop songstress continues to take outlandish steps to keep everyone on their toes. The latest Gaga blip comes as news spreads that she’s hired fashion photographer Steven Klein to direct her latest music video. The “Alejandro” shoot will take an avant-garde approach to both fashion and music, debunking rumors from March that it would be a continuation of her Beyonce collaboration in “Telephone.”

Even without a video, “Alejandro” is getting major YouTube time thanks to her recent American Idol performance, which showcased her dancing skills but also her knack for drama. Gaga took to her Twitter page following the show after Idol cut off about a minute and a half from the performance; While the dramatic interpretative dance still lasted five minutes, Gaga was not happy, writing, “FOX POORLY + AMATEURLY edited + cut my performance/musical arrangement on idol [sic].” Still, Gaga managed to rock the house during the Thursday performance and the cut didn’t keep fans from buying <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.stubhub.com/lady-gaga-tickets/”>Lady Gaga tickets</a> from http://www.stubhub.com.

The new “Alejandro” video, as Gaga explains, will represent her lifestyle in a way only Klein can represent. The fashion director who has previously worked with Madonna understands “I am what I wear,” she said in a press statement. The video will take a cue from Gaga’s personal love of theater, music and art, as “Steven really knows and understands” her love for all three fields. “So we’re making a beautiful video, and I’m so excited.”

“Alejandro” is the third single from Gaga’s The Fame Monster, an eight-track November release that debuted fifth on Billboard’s 200 charts. The album follows her debut full-length, which continues to get support on her Monster Ball Tour, an event Gaga has deemed “more of a musical and less of a concert” to LiveDaily.

Even with all her eccentric tunes and costume, Lady Gaga is still Stefani Germanotta, the New Yorker who listened on repeat to Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper via her tape recorder. Though today she might dress much more provocatively than she did when dancing atop restaurant tables with a breadstick in hand, Gaga’s unconventional persona has always remained constant. “I was always an entertainer,” she says on her website.

From her days dancing aside her Italian family to performing in underground hip-hop clubs on New York’s lower east side, Gaga’s name is now synonymous with serious theatrics. Apart from making headlines for her American Idol performance, Lady Gaga continues to keep fans interested with her recent Monster Ball Tour dates as she extends her summer tour through September.

The Monster Ball Tour will see Gaga mania in cities like Denver, Houston, Boston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Portland, Pittsburgh, Washington and Charlotte. When her first round of Madison Square Garden and Staples Center dates sold out in minutes, tour promoters added an extra date to each city. The theme, she revealed to Ryan Seacrest last year, follows Lady Gaga and her friends throughout the Big Apple as they head to the Monster Ball. See what is next for the “fame monster” herself, with Lady Gaga tickets today.
