Question by vin v: Which bugdet hotels near to washington dc atttractions? How do i visit white house ? any idea thank you?

Budget Hotels in Washington are relative. A cheap hotel in a good area of Washington DC will start at $ 100 a night. Outside of the city you might get a little less expensive but not much less than $ 75 or $ 80, and you will face a long commute and extra costs to get into the city.

The ones I recommend most often are

The Hotel Harrington – this is within walking distance of everything, a block off Pennsylvania Avenue, about 3 blocks from the white House, 12 from the Capitol, 3 from the National Museum of Natural History. It’s a budget hotel, with rooms starting just under $ 100 a night, and is clean and comfortable, but hardly luxurious. It would be my first choice.

The Red Roof Inn Chinatown. This is a little further from the mall (about 6-7 blocks) near the National Gallery of Art and about 8 blocks from the Capitol and the White House. It’s more expensive, starting around $ 120 a night, but it’s a more “standard” hotel.

All other major hotel brands are in DC. I recommend avoiding the ones on New York Avenue, they are in a bad neighborhood, without a metro station nearby, and usually pretty rundown.

To visit the White House you must request a tour from your Congressperson or Representative. Look them up on the internet and their official web site will have information on how to do this (it varies by member of congress), usually either under “tours” or “Constituent Services.”

For touring advice, I suggest visiting in five major areas. They are

1. Monuments and Memorials – these help make DC Unique. You can visit the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial and Vietnam Memorial on the mall, and the Jefferson memorial and FDR Memorial on the Tidal Basin, but there are memorials and monuments all over Washington. These should be a part of your visit.

2. The government buildings. In addition to the White House (which you can only see on a tour arranged by your member of congress) there is the Supreme Court (open M-F) the Capitol Building (M-Saturday), the Library of Congress, the National Archives, the U.S. Botanical Gardens, and the Bureau of Engraving and printing. Spend some time looking at how US government operates.

3. The museums. 16 different Smithsonian buildings, 14 of them in DC, the National Gallery of Art, the National Holocaust Memoral are all free and well worth visiting. Others, like the Newseum, Madame Tussauds, the Spy Museum, the Corcoran, the Phillips Collection – have a fee, but are worth it. I don’t know a city more museum rich than ours.

4. Visit a neighborhood. DC is much more than the museums and the government,; it’s a living vital city with some fantastic neighborhoods. Visit Shaw, where African American culture is paramount, Adams Morgan where diversity is the key, and Chinatown where earlier waves of immigrants made their mark. Foggy bottom is a great international district, the SW Waterfront has it’s own allure.

5. Check out culture, Free performances in the Kennedy Center, Military Band Concerts year round, World class theatre including the Shakespeare Theatre, the Arena Stage, Source, Signature, Wooley Mammoth and many more professional theatre companies are here, plus the National Orchestra, the Washington Ballet and a half dozen top rate choral groups!

In addition to all this, there are lively neighborhoods, great clubs, a fantastic music scene, with everything from bluegrass to classical to go-go and hip-hop, incredible gardens, and much, much more! Check out our podcast for more ideas.

Seminar: From Idea to the Page: The Nonfiction Book Proposal
Event on 2014-02-22 09:00:00
How does an author go from an idea to writing a "trade" (that is, commercial) nonfiction book? This workshop will focus on what is often a crucial link in the chain–the book proposal. We will work through the elements of strong nonfiction book proposals–the "big idea," character, voice, theme, and understanding the market. We will also look at examples of proposals for best-selling books.

Michael Signer is the author of Demagogue: The Fight to Save Democracy from its Worst Enemies (Palgrave Macmillan 2009) and is currently at work on the sequel, Becoming Madison: The Making of an American Statesman (PublicAffairs 2015). Figure on spending $ 250000 on up….. You have to find a vacant frequency, do some engineering work, then apply for a license…… You could spend hundreds of thousands of dollars even before you bought a microphone……..

Hotels in “green energy saving” on the brilliant idea out frequently – refrigeration, ener

October 4th, 2013

Hotels Green Environmental protection , Saving energy is a hotel to confront each problem, which involves planning and design from the hotel to the management of the entire process, and the hotel is closely related to the work of all levels. At present the hotel in the green environmental protection, energy saving tricks on the many. I recently learned in Shenzhen, Vienna hotels, Grand Skylight Garden Hotel, Hainan Sanya Gloria hotel air conditioning system introduced in imported green energy sea gull (Hychill) natural Refrigerants Replace the original air-conditioning on the use of Freon R22 refrigerant, the air conditioning energy saving rate reached 33%, 30.8% and 26.3%. Replace the sea gulls (Hychill) natural refrigerants, air conditioning operating current decreased, room humidity also decreased, an increase of room comfort. Assumptions: air conditioning electricity consumption a year more than 130 million needed to replace the Sea Gull (Hychill) year after natural refrigerants can down more than 50 million kWh of energy saving, conversion down, saving 200 tons of standard coal annually. In addition, the hotel air conditioning system replaced the sea gull (Hychill) natural refrigerants, but also strengthen the green image of the hotel, because the sea gulls (Hychill) natural refrigerants are all components of hydrocarbon composition, hydrocarbon refrigerant does not damage ozone layer and the greenhouse effect. In some developed countries and regions, hydrocarbon refrigerant is recognized: with clear environmental benefits, and energy-saving effect is very prominent.

Vienna hotel split air replace the sea gulls (Hychill) natural refrigerants, the single Air Conditioning Increased 7.8%, down 14.8% in air conditioning running current, comprehensive energy-saving rate of 24.6%. Way of testing with hanging electricity meter, the result of 33% energy saving, energy-saving effect is very obvious. The project has more than 800 points in total body conditioning, project implementation in each of 8-10 months after the room air-conditioning, electricity can be saved each year nearly 700,000 yuan. As the sea gull (Hychill) natural refrigerants in air conditioning running in the low evaporation temperature, with desiccant air-conditioning effect of increased functionality, which effectively reduces room humidity and offer residents a better place to live Environment Also increased within the hotel’s competitiveness in the peer. Grand Skylight Garden Hotel

split air conditioning replacement sea gull (Hychill) natural refrigerants, the single air-conditioning cooling capacity increased by 5.2%, down 24% air-conditioning running current, comprehensive energy-saving rate of 30.8%, energy-saving effect is very significant. The project has a total of more than 500 split air-conditioning, project implementation in each of 8-10 months after the room air-conditioning, electricity can be saved each year nearly 450,000 yuan.

Hainan Gloria hotel air conditioning replacement sea gull (Hychill) natural refrigerants, the single air-conditioning cooling capacity increased by 4%, 21.2% decline in air conditioning running current, comprehensive energy-saving rate of 26.3%, very significant energy savings . The project is a water-cooled air-conditioning Central air conditioning More than 400 rooms, each project 8-10 months after the room air-conditioning, electricity can be saved each year nearly five hundred thousand yuan.

Hotel’s energy consumption, to solve our Energy Environmental issues, will play a positive example for the lead. Also, because the hotel’s foreign property, in the hotel industry to promote energy saving and environmental friendly idea to help improve and strengthen the overall image of the industry and even the image of regional integration and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.

Is it a good idea to provide nail salon customers with on demand media during a pedicure/manicure?

July 20th, 2013

Question by davidvu2007: Is it a good idea to provide nail salon customers with on demand media during a pedicure/manicure?
The customer could browse the internet, watch tv, movies, listen to music or radio.

Best answer:

Answer by Mizz Broc
I think it’s fab idea, although surely the customers would have to pay more? Because it couldn’t be cheap to provide all of that… But yes, a great idea. I’m always so bored waiting… Good Luck 😉
