Beethoven’s and Webern’s Music to Fill Long Island’s Finest and Most Intimate Concert Hall on February 11

The Jupiter String Quartet returns to Adelphi University with The Evolution of Voice on Friday, February 11, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. in the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AU PAC) Concert Hall, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. Ludwig van Beethoven’s “voice” as a composer changed radically from his early, classical style to his final years as an artist of adventurous, mystical, and romantic works. His distinctive music is paired with that of Anton Webern for this performance, who shifted from late Romanticism to his own unique, modern style.

The Jupiter String Quartet, which formed in 2001, is an intimate group including violinists Nelson Lee and Megan Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (older sister of Meg), and cellist Daniel McDonough (husband of Meg, brother-in-law of Liz). The energetic quartet concertizes across the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, and South America. They have enjoyed playing in such venues as New York’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Boston’s Jordan Hall, Mexico City’s Palacio de Bellas Artes, and Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center.
