After attending about 10 parades at 8th and I, the songs vary except for the Marine Corps Hymn. This one is played at each and every evening parade and Marine Corps events. Many of the other songs were composed by John Phillip Souza who was the Marine Corps’ first band director.

Lieutenant Colonel, US Marine Corps-Retired (Stationed at Headquarters Marine Corps and attended evening parades and general officer retirements at 8th and I (Marine Barracks).

Marine Corps Barracks Washington Evening Parade 8/31/07

Video taken on during the final evening parade of 2007. Marine Barracks Washington, also known as “8th & I,” is the oldest active post in the Marine Corps. Located on the corners of 8th & I streets in southeast Washington, DC the Barracks supports both ceremonial and security missions in the nation’s capital. The selection of the location of Marine Barracks Washington was of national and strategic interest. President Thomas Jefferson accompanied by the second commandant of the Marine Corps, Lieutenant Colonel William Ward Burrows, searched for a suitable location to station the Marines within proximity to the Washington Navy Yard and within “an easy marching distance of the Capitol.”

To help bring the bite together we’ll often use rubber bands in a triangle configuration to close an places the bite is open. This only works however if you wear the rubber bands as instructed by your orthodontist.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade is one of Washington, DCs largest public events of the year, drawing about 100000 spectators from around the world. The parade combines wonderful entertainment for the whole family including decorated floats, gigantic colorful helium balloons, marching bands, clowns, horses, antique cars, military and celebrity performances, … the National Cherry Blossom Festival All-Star Youth Tap Dance Team and Choir, and various cultural performing groups. The parade is simulcast live on ABC 7/ WJLA-TV and NewsChannel 8. Parade time is 10:00 am to noon. Arrive around 9:00 am to stake out a spot along the parade route. Following the parade is the Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival from 11 am to 6 pm Dont miss the biggest Japanese street party in the nation.
