Pass It On – The Three Golden Gates

October 2nd, 2011

Pass It On – The Three Golden Gates

Someone once told me that if you found something good to say
that you should never be afraid to repeat it. Men will quote
Bible long after I’m gone and the words of people like Abraham
Lincoln or George Washington will be repeated countless times
but no one will say when its time to quit repeating their
sayings. Such words are never put to rest they are only passed
on to others, they belong to humanity they are legacy and wisdom
and will never cease to salt the earth. Here are some of the
best words I have heard in my brief stay on this old planet.

The three golden gates is something I first heard about from one
of my first pastors, Richard Land. It did not originate with him
but I have always been glad that he chose to repeat these words
to me. Richard is now heard across the nation daily on hundreds
of family life radio stations.

He said that before you say anything to anybody you should see
if it can pass successfully through all three of the golden
gates. If it couldn’t make it through all three gates it was
probably not something that should be spoken at all.

]]>

The first golden gate is, “Is It True.” For most people this is
the only gate they let their words pass through. Who has not
heard someone retort “well it is true isn’t it” right after they
had slaughtered someone with a few poison words. This is poor
diplomacy at best and is often used as a cloke of maliciousness.
That something is true is not a mandate for you to repeat it to
the hurt of others. It is no secret that truth without love is
cruelty and love without truth is sentimentality. Many truths
are weapons in the hands of those whose motive it is to hurt.
Truth then is only gate number one, so lets move on.

The second golden gate is, “Is It Needful.” Regardless of the
veracity of what you are about to say, do you really need to say
it? Here is where a lot of retort will fail to report. Most of
the nasty things repeated would have no sting at all if they
attempted to pass through gate two. Only people of character
will have a gate number two. People who care about others, who
understand the weight of words and who seek love are those who
have a second golden gate. The power of this golden gate comes
from the golden rule. If we disregard someone else’s peace,
privacy or dignity who will guard our own?

The third golden gate is, “Is It Kind.” This is the gate that
causes a person to honestly look at their own motives for saying
something. True things can be spoken to hurt. Un-needful things
are spoken daily by the careless and indifferent. Words spoken
without love are the worst of the bunch because they have a
lingering and damaging effect whose poison goes on and on. They
are the great enemy of mankind. The are the precursors to every
evil result from hatred to murder. Most words that have made it
through the first two gates will fail at gate number three.

These gates are useful in almost every personal relationship you
will ever have. They can help marriages, families, and any
interaction with anyone on any level. They require a conscious
effort to use and in time you will become more skillful at using
them but in every case you will become a better person for
trying

Collective Bargaining Reforms Pass Wisc. Senate

June 30th, 2011

MacIver News Service | March 9, 2011 [Madison, Wisc..] Three weeks after Senate Democrats fled the state, the Wisconsin State Senate passed the bulk of the Budget Repair Bill in a series of surprise moves Wednesday. Late in the afternoon Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald and the GOP lawmakers assembled for the Special Session voted to send the bill to a bipartisan conference committee. That committee met, voted on the bill and sent it to the State Senate, which passed the bill on an 18-1 vote moments later. The unamendable bill now awaits action in the State Assembly where passage is expected. MacIver News Service’s Bill Osmulski reports from Madison.

Seattle Washington Trip: Save Money With City Pass

Seattle Washington Trip: Save Money With City Pass

Are you planning a trip to Seattle Washington that will last a few days? If so then considering a City Pass is a great idea. With a City Pass you will get to visit some of the cities most popular and best attractions at a mere fraction of the cost others will have to pay. Your pass is good for up to nine days fro the first time it is used and is also good for free public transportation. This is a great way to have several options for different activities that you can participate in during your stay.

Museum of Flight

At the Museum of flight you will really enjoy yourself as the history of flight comes to life right before you eyes. This museum has a wonderful array of fun activities to offer for every age. You can do things like touring the original Air Force One jet or sit yourself behind a modern day jet flight simulator. You will find yourself entrenched and amazed as you explore the history of both personal and military flight. It is so much fun that the admission price is well worth it but remember with the city pass you are getting a great deal and paying only a fraction of what everyone else. Even at the full price this is still a recommended attraction.

The Seattle Harbor Tour

This tour is offered by Argosy Cruises and will probably be a highlight of your time in Seattle. If not a highlight, then perhaps the boost you needed to try some of the more elaborate tours that Argosy has to offer. This tour lasts about an hour long and provides a tour of the bay while pointing out some of the stunning scenery that surrounds Seattle. You do have the option of upgrading your cruise to one of the others offered by Argosy for an additional fee. If you’ve never been in open water before, I recommend starting with a smaller cruise and seeing how your sea legs (and stomach) measure up before embarking on a longer or dinner cruise.

Woodland Park Zoo

The Woodland Park Zoo is known for its natural looking and enjoyable exhibits. In fact the zoo has won many prestigious awards for its exhibits. There is so much to do and see here at the zoo that this can easily be a whole day adventure for any family. In fact that is what I would recommended is that you take a whole day and while you are there why not take a stroll next door to the beautiful Rose Garden. This is a free side trip as it doesn’t cost anything to view the roses but it is a wonderful experience and it goes well with the Woodland Park Zoo.

Pacific Science Center

From video games and laser shows to fascinating science exhibits the Pacific Science Center really is a fun place to visit. While you’re there you might want to check out the IMAX theatre and see what is playing. Among the permanent exhibits is a Dinosaur exhibit from the Mesozoic Era, a tropical butterfly house, an Insect Village, and a saltwater Tide Pool where little ones can see and touch many of the creatures that can be found in the Puget Sound.

Seattle Aquarium

Delve into life under the sea and the many salt water and fresh water creatures that can be found in and around the Puget Sound. This will be a highlight for everyone in your group I can almost guarantee.

If any of these or most of these is appealing to you and or those you are traveling with, then purchasing a city pass is probably a wise investment. Even if you don’t visit all of the attractions, you can save money by visiting a few.

Taking a vacation or visiting somewhere soon?

How hard is it to pass the Washington State Motorcycle drivers test?

April 22nd, 2010

I’m considering purchasing a 750 Honda Shadow Spirit. Is this too big of a bike for the Washington State m/c drivers test? I understand that smaller bikes make passing the driver’s part of the test easier. Years ago, I had a 750 (CB) and an 1100 (GL) before, and I’m an experienced rider, but not an expert by any means and thinking about the test makes me anxious.

Internet Radio Networks – the Gold Pass to Better Entertainment!

April 1st, 2010

Some things in life never really go out of style. Well, they change forms and take on new looks, but they remain. One of such time defying inventions is the radio. No matter what skeptics would have you believe, the radio is very much alive and kicking even in this era of digital entertainment. Of course, the persistent existence of the radio has subjected it to some changes. Bulky radios or even the smaller, battery-powered transistors are becoming increasingly rare with every passing day. But the core essence of radio technology, that of sound and music being transmitted from a central station, still survives and is gaining in strength and popularity with passing time. Let’s investigate this amazing phenomenon.

The radio in the 21st century has taken on a new avatar. It has merged with possibly the most powerful medium of modern times, the Internet. The result? E-radio, (what else?) In this era of e-mails, e-shopping and e-commerce, e-radios, or Internet radios as they are often called as, are a natural occurrence. We are not surprised, and nor should be you! If you’ve been reading the writing on the wall, you already knew that it had to come someday. So, the good news is, it’s here! And how! Let’s take a closer look.

Internet radio networks are on the rise and the reason is not hard to understand. Much of their popularity can be attributed to the huge proliferation of Internet technologies. It is, however, interesting to note that Internet radio, however, is not a very novel innovation. In other words, Internet radio networks have been around for quite a while now. It is only recently, with the proliferation of Internet technology and faster connectivity, that the phenomenon called Internet radio has truly come of age. Today, the listener is pampered with a bevy of channels (or stations), catering to specific areas of interest. This is becoming a standard feature of Internet radio networks that serve music online. The listener can tune into any of dozens of stations covering such genres as Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Indie Rock, Jazz, 80s music, 70s music, Oldies, New Age, Reggae, Country, Latin, Euro, Ambient, Lounge, Progressive, Techno and what not. Hours and hours of uninterrupted music at no cost – that’s the magnitude of the entertainment provided by Internet radio networks.

Among the most popular Internet radio networks are the ones that feature Internet Talk Radio. Streaming talk shows and discussions on a wide range of subjects have made them popular among serious listeners or those who carve for something more than just music from their e-radios. Internet talk radio programs host various talk shows with specialists on different subject matters who anchor the show. While traditional radio broadcasters have often used the Internet to advertise or promote their shows, Internet radio technology has actually revolutionized the concept and simple programming requirements have taken it to the extent where individuals, organizations or anyone for that matter, can easily host their own Internet talk radio station from the comfort of their home.

Internet radio networks like Voice America make it easier to host your own Internet talk radio show. Such Internet radio networks not only provide you with the technology to host your Internet radio show but also give you a complete package of Internet streaming media broadcasting, proven support services in web, marketing, and interactive solutions that help you to make your mark and your presence known to the ever increasing Internet audience. If you are planning to host your own Internet talk radio, it’s worth contacting Internet radio networks like Voice America.
