Stone Temple Pilots Tickets – Self-Titled Stone Temple Pilots Album to Arrive May 25

After months-years even-of anticipation, STP fans can rest easy! NME.com reported that the Stone Temple Pilots’ forthcoming new album will arrive on May 25. The eponymous album is the follow-up to 2001′s Shangri-La Dee Da and is the band’s first album since reuniting after six years apart. STP’s own Robert and Dean DeLeo produced Stone Temple Pilots, which features the following 12 tracks: “Between the Lines,” “Take a Load Off,” “Huckleberry Crumble,” “Hickory Dichotomy,” “Dare If You Dare,” “Cinnamon,” “Hey Daze,” “Bagman,” “Peacoat,” “Fast As I Can,” “First Kiss on Mars” and “Maver.”

The first single off Stone Temple Pilots’ eponymous new album is “Between the Lines.” The track arrived online on March 22, but the week before frontman Scott Wieland & Co. debuted a few new tracks at Austin’s South By Southwest Music Festival. On March 18, the band held an afternoon listening party at Betsy’s Bar, reported Billboard.com, inviting radio and press reps to the bash.

Wieland told those in attendance that “nine or so years ago, when the band split, we had this feeling that the legacy wasn’t finished.” Wieland also said that making new music is “what really had made us a band and kept us a band for such a long time.” Speaking about STP’s new album, the frontman hailed the self-produced effort “a labor, but a labor of love” and also “a really special record to us.”

Also on March 18, STP performed at the Austin Music Hall, delivering a set list comprised off old favorites and new songs. “Vaseline,” “Creep,” “Big Empty,” “Plush,” “Wicked Garden” and “Sex Type Thing” were among the old songs dusted off by STP, while the band also debuted “Hickory Dichotomy,” “Bagman,” “Huckleberry Crumble” and “Between the Lines” during the 80-minute gig. After playing older fare like “Hollywood Bitch,” “Sour Girl,” “Dead and Bloated” and “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart,” the Doors’ Robbie Krieger took the stage for the encore, performing “Roadhouse Blues” with the quartet. Krieger was in Austin promoting the new Doors documentary When You’re Strange.

The Stone Temple Pilots’ SXSW show kicked off the band’s mini tour, which sees the veteran rock band performing in U.S. cities like Thackerville, Okla.; Sioux City, Iowa; Milwaukee, Wis.; Chicago, Ill.; Detroit, Mich.; Robinsonville, Miss.; Camden, N.J. and more before traveling to Europe for dates in June and early August. Among the Stone Temple Pilots’ upcoming tour dates is a headlining spot at the 2010 edition of DC101 Chili Cook-Off. The Washington Business Journal reports that the rock festival is a fundraiser for the National Kidney Foundation Serving the National Capital Area and will take place at Washington, D.C.’s RFP Stadium on May 22. Hailed D.C.’s largest one-day rock festival, this is the 32nd annual event and will feature STP and Alice in Chains co-headlining, while other performers include Cage the Elephant, Anberlin and Switchfoot. Festival organizers anticipate this year’s concert and cook-off to raise a whopping .6 million for the Kidney Foundation.
