Should the government provide subsidies to improve railroad service in the same way that government provides?

January 9th, 2013

Question by Ahmed Raza: Should the government provide subsidies to improve railroad service in the same way that government provides?
Should the government (a generic term to include U.S., state, and local governments) provide subsidies to improve railroad service in the same way that government provides many, many subsidies to the airline industry – both passenger and freight airlines – and to the nation’s trucking industry – all competitors of the railroad industry? Why or why not? How should this be done?

Best answer:

Answer by Laura Hobbs
I would prefer that our government continues to provide subsidies to rail and air commute companies than continue to provide subsidies to the fascist oil companies.
