Question by Kevinlad: Why the national radio stations have a range of FM frequencies?
For example, BBC radio 1 is ranging from 97 – 99 FM, radio 2 is 88 – 91 FM, classic FM is 100 – 102 FM, etc. Why couldn’t these stations broadcast in only one frequency nationally (for example, just FM 98.8 for radio 1 throughtout the UK) and then free up the rest of the frequency range to other radio stations?

I don’t XM radio and junk, but I have 3 local country radio stations that i listen to. Most people seem to be loyal to a certain station but I just listen to whichever isn’t on commercial.

I’d like to listen to a bit of internet radio and want to listen to some popular commercial radio stations in the US. Thought I’d start off with L.A or California as a whole but have no idea which stations have the most listeners.
Can anyone help? I’m after general / pop stations, the kind Mr Average has his car radio tuned into.
