Question by vera: How much would a road trip from Chicago to Washington DC cost a group of 4 people?
I am going to do a road trip from Chicago to Washington DC! We are renting a car, but I just don’t know how much it would cost for tolls and gas from Chicago to DC. I was also wondering if we can take a longer way without having to pay tolls!

AAA has a gas calculator on their website, also go to a AAA and they can map out your trip for you for free if you’re a member

Doing a road trip from Washington, DC around the east coast starting this weekend, how are the road conditions?

Question by newcomer: Doing a road trip from Washington, DC around the east coast starting this weekend, how are the road conditions?
I am planning to do a road trip this weekend, driving from washington, DC to the following places.
1. Buffalo, NY
2. Niagara Falls
3. New York City (New Year’s Eve)
4. Boston
5. Philadelphia
6. Back to Washingon, DC

How are the road conditions travelling around these routes? I haven’t driven in the snow before and is concerned about the drive.

Any other form of alternatives tpt to suggest?

As you probably already know, the roads in southern NJ backs up horribly on any day, let alone a long weekend. There is a route that goes through Penn., look that up.

NYC will be packed on New Years, stay away from Times Square on the car, do it on foot, if anything.

Central and Northern NY isn’t that bad.

Also, we aren’t expecting any snow this coming weekend. Although you should give yourself some more time in traveling from place to place Buffalo and Niagara get pretty bad.

In the summer of 2010 I am scheduled to travel to Europe with the Washington Ambassadors of Music, however the cost is a little too much for my family to handle. This trip is incredibly important to me not only because I will be able to play music in other countries but also because I will be able to experience other cultures which is an opportunity that is too valuable to pass up. If anyone could help me find a sponsor for this trip or give me ideas on how to make some money it would take an enormous amount of stress off of my family and I would be very grateful.

Why don’t you organise a concert? you could play your music and ask some of your musician friends to play for free. Charge an entry fee.

It just specifies it as needing to be “meaningful music”. I have no idea what kind of music I could set this video to! It will include pictures of me and my friends in Washington DC, and also pictures of important monuments and such. Any ideas? They would be appreciated!

dead reconing by clint mansell is very good and emotion evoking. the halo theme is very serious and sets the mood for a presentaion. gone guru by lifeseeker is a fun one too that tells how a man became free of oppresion which is meaning full

We camped just above Crystal Rapid at Mile 98.3. This is the view looking upriver from my tent. Sunsets can be sneaky little teasers in the Inner Gorge. The shadows creep in long before sunset and you see the sun playing on spires near the top of canyons.

I rafted with Arizona Raft Adventures AZRA.

These grasses/reeds were growing near our camp near Mile 98.3 and were blowing gently in the wind. I believe that these are Phragmites australis ( see "River and Desert Plants of the Grand Canyon", Kristin Huisinga Lori Makarick pages 44 & 45). If anyone can confirm my guess at this identification, I would appreciate it.
