5 Easy Ways To Get Great Internet Radio Guests Part 1- Finding Guests

You’ve got a great radio show, but you want to make it even better. How do you find even more great guests, and how do you contact them when you do? This is part 1 of a 3 part series on finding and contacting potential guests for your internet radio show. (Or any other interview.)

You know the types of subjects you and your audience want to hear about. Use Google (or your favorite search engine) to find out what, and more importantly who, is hot in that field.

The great thing about finding guests on Blogtalk is that you can hear what interviewing that person is like. You also know they do Blogtalk interviews, and can usually find a link to their website. This makes contacting them even easier.

]]>

Authors are always wanting to share their latest book with a larger audience. Look in your local bookstore for the new books coming out in your subject. You can also go to Amazon.com for great authors. They have a lot of great books (and potential guests) that haven’t gotten into the mainstream bookstores yet. This will make them even more eager to find an audience.

Joining a few active groups on social media sites can be a gold mine. Most hosts like to brag (and with good reason) about their best interviews, and most don’t mind sharing their best guests. After all, if you like someone, you want them to do well, and helping them find more exposure is good for everyone. You can even promote your favorite guests and win brownie points from them and the other hosts both!

Put a survey on your website or just ask for emails. Ask your audience who they would like to hear on you show. Since it is all about your audience, why not find out what they want? They may know about people you’ve never heard of, or remind you about someone you’ve always wondered about, too. When you contact the guest, you can honestly say your audience asked for them by name! It’s a great way to get your foot in the door.

This is a site specifically designed to connect radio hosts and guests. Put your profile up and guests will contact you. Go through the guest profiles and look for your target subjects. They are organized by the same categories as Blogtalk, so it is easy to find just the right guest.

Web Radio Resource is the one stop Free site for connecting Web Radio Hosts and Industry Experts worldwide. Are you both a Guest and a Host? No problem. You can have up to 6 Free basic profiles of your choice! Come make your Free Host or Guest Profile Today! http://www.webradioresource.com

Promoting Your Music Online: Unsigned bands finding new ways of reaching their public

Promoting Your Music Online: Unsigned bands finding new ways of reaching their public

With the recent rise of groups in the UK such as Arctic Monkeys and Arcade Fire, the internet is proving its worth more and more in the music industry. As traditional formats decline in use, the internet is providing independent musicians with a myriad of possibilities for promoting their music. Indeed, unsigned bands can reach their audiences without needing a record label.

Emerging artists used to spend most of their time down at the post office, licking envelopes, sending off cassettes and making further copies of their cassettes. Looking back, it seemed like the dark ages. Today’s indie music scene sees many bands sat at their computer screens, looking for new ways to promote their music. The emergence of several top bands over the last few months thanks to the Internet is proof that the cream will always rise to the top, and using the net, they have every chance of doing so.

Almost all artists have band pages nowadays. In fact, it seems to be the first step on the way to internet recognition. A band page will commonly feature a news page, a separate page for downloading music for free, a photos page, and a contact page. These band pages are, in effect, business cards for musicians. The website receives promotion on various music websites and forums, and the band can create their own image through web branding.

The majority of band pages are very simple. Some carry an internet radio feature on the home page, others allow you to simply download the music in mp3 format, others have lyrics and features on the group, but the intention is always the same: to get people to listen to the group’s music.

However, the limitation to a band page is that unless the band promotes itself through other means, i.e. through forums, internet radio stations, flyers at concerts, etc., the website will receive very few visitors.

Internet radio is becoming more and more popular. Sites like www.bluebeamradio.com function largely thanks to emerging artists who wish to promote their music, creating a partnership that brings a community of musicians together. By allowing groups to register for free and to post their mp3s, these radio stations are becoming an essential stop for new bands and independent musicians wishing to create a buzz about themselves.

The idea is catching on. Many listeners want to listen to one particular genre, and are frustrated at mainstream radio offerings. By finding an internet radio station that fits their needs, they are introduced to new bands. New bands, in return, are being given an audience that has already decided which genre they want to listen to, and internet radio stations like Blue Beam Radio, for example, offer the top-rated bands prizes, such as a concert in New York. The potential to be heard is enormous; it simply requires time in front of the computer!

]]>

So while internet radio stations offer streaming music, people will always want to download music for free online. While the music industry is clearly unhappy about free downloads of mp3s or other music formats, listeners will always find ways of sharing their music, it seems. Emerging artists are today taking advantage of that by scouring the internet for sites that offer free music downloads, and literally giving their music away.

The disadvantage to this is that most people will not automatically download online music from a group that they do not know. Almost all sites that offer free music for download operate using a search engine, and users search directly for a group. However, word of mouth on the internet means that when a band is being talked about, people will actually search for that particular band. The best example of this, as mentioned at the top of this article, is the Arctic Monkeys.

Hailing from Sheffield in the UK, the Arctic Monkeys’ success is due entirely to word of mouth on the internet. Their music is pure indie. Raw, punky, and blessed with no shortage of attitude, the buzz around the Arctic Monkeys started on blogs, and started to snowball. They were offering free mp3 downloads via their own website, which was a very basic portal including downloads, photos, future concerts and latest news. Once the buzz started growing into a shout, their music was available on internet radio stations, music download sites, blogs linked to blogs linked to blogs… very soon, they became the first band to reach number 1 in the UK through internet downloads!

What started off as a music curiosity became a music event. The band were soon appearing on national television, and even on the news, as their album sold more copies on its first day of release than the first releases of Oasis or The Beatles.

What happened in Sheffield can happen anywhere in the world. The internet has brought bands and listeners together at an international level – the rap artist at his home in Seattle can reach the rap fan at his home in Singapore, the independent musician in New York can reach the indie fan in York… but it is also interesting how communities are forming at a local level.

The internet is providing emerging artists with opportunities to create a buzz around their latest concerts, generating an audience that would previously have taken a great deal of legwork to gather. Through mailing lists, online flyers, blog and forum entries, a music event can be publicised many ways. The more innovative a group becomes, the more chance it has of reaching its public.

Local music forums have popped up all around the world. Indie bands will always look for a solid local fan base, and it is thanks to the internet forum that they have found this. Using their forum post signature to promote their website, these bands post flyers, concert information and more, and even share information about how to find concerts, where to buy equipment, and recording techniques. When looking for a local community of listeners, indie bands can easily find local communities of bands who are doing the same thing. While seemingly these bands rarely get the chance to meet each other unless they are playing a gig together, the internet gives them the opportunity to discuss and promote 24 hours a day.

In truth, the internet is simply offering an extension to the old “local scene” that existed before it. Indie music has grown over the last few years largely because of the adaptability of independent musicians to the internet, and because of their community spirit. While prior to the internet, a local music scene would have been limited to a handful of bands, today it is much easier for a group to break onto the local music scene, as long as they have a strong website, a strong image, and of course, good music.

And in the end, the essential truths of the music industry will always bear out. If you don’t have the music, you won’t make the grade. Listeners are canny people, and they will always filter out the good bands from the average bands, regardless of how good the website is, or how persistent the promotion is. However, as indie music flourishes, so do the best bands, and if they are on the right internet radio stations, if they can create the right buzz around themselves, and if they can reach their audience, emerging artists today have every chance not just of increasing their audiences, but of getting a contract with a record label.

Q&A: What are some ways to shrink government down to the size where you can drown it in a bathtub?

July 30th, 2011

Question by Growth vs Oil: What are some ways to shrink government down to the size where you can drown it in a bathtub?
If you can cause problems in the economy will government spend money?
If government spends too much money will government have to make cuts?
And what other libertarian Republicans share this Grover Norquist quote from before 911?
“I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub” Grover Norquist May 21st hee hee 2001.

Gibe billionaires enough tax cuts lose enough revenue and say “we don’t have a revenue problem, we have spending problem.”

10 Ways Beach Music, Romance & Self-expression Created the First ?myspace?

March 20th, 2011

10 Ways Beach Music, Romance & Self-expression Created the First ?myspace?

by John Hook

Beach Music? Many define it by its geography and the kinds of songs it includes while describing ‘friendship’ and ‘good times’ as the glue which binds it.

If you’re like me you’ve thrilled to square dancing in bright costumes, two-stepping in country bars, bumping and hustling in discos, and line dancing in modern clubs. They’re all filled with friendship and good times; making those insufficient illustrations of what makes Beach Music what it is.

1. Beach Music in the East and the West are similar, but not the same.
Both coastal communities celebrate individuality and self-expression. At the center of West Coast beach culture is the surfer community encouraging private quests marked by athletic achievement while the East Coast dance culture inspires a new form of social success.

2. East Coast Beach Music nurtures new ideals of social equality, romance, and improvisational self-expression.
Fifteen years before Rock and Roll, white teenagers in the Southeast embraced Black music as their own. At the same time they developed a new dance to express themselves. From that mixture the Shag evolved.

3. Many found the secret rites of Shag and Beach Music at the Beach.
Like the “soul surfers” of the West Coast, the “soul dancers” set new standards for the ‘good life.’ At the beach, personal and hometown histories stayed home while they assumed nicknames and developed new personalities.

4. Rhythm and Blues and Jazz were foundations for the Shag.
In addition to early black music, soul dancers often flipped over national pop hits to see if the ‘B’ side had the right beat and mood for carefree shuffles in coastal and inland pavilions.

5. Society sometimes misread them as mere ‘rebels.’
Like their West coast alter-egos they weren’t rebelling as much as forming new communities and social hierarchies of greater equality with rights of self-expression.

6. Balmy days and nights, sensual Shag moves, and their own ‘coat of arms’ embraced giddy summer romances.
The Shaggers’ dress code included Bass Weejuns, no socks, cashmere sweaters, and madras shirts. Like knights of old, girl-partners were revered. When they danced, *she* was the most gorgeous woman in the world.

7. East Coast soul dancers enshrined the Art of Play as equal to Hard Work.
As such they considered social life equivalent to work life. While they worked summer jobs to support themselves, they worked just as hard at “not working” on the dance floor.

8. It looked like a sexual revolution.
It really wasn’t focused on sex. Self-confidence and cool were guiding principles and the ‘safe date’ was integral to Beach Music. They put dancing before drinking–unlike some who need a ‘boost’ to drop their inhibitions.

9. Classic Beach songs include national hits and treasures unknown outside the Southeast.
Fifties Beach songs celebrated the good times in several ways. Although “Drinkin’ Wine Spo Dee O Dee” mentioned wine, it more loudly proclaimed the ‘good times’! Fifties hits included “Good Rockin’ Tonight,” “Sixty Minute Man,” and “Sh-Boom.” The 60s added hundreds more like “Under the Boardwalk,” “My Girl,” “What Does it Take To Win Your Love,” and “Brown Eyed Girl.”

10. The ‘Shag’ had other names including the ‘Bop’ ‘Freestylin” and ‘Fas’ Dancin’.
The music wasn’t named for 25 years! In the beginning most teenagers found it at the Beach. Eventually there were 500+ inland dance clubs, Pavilions, restaurants, swimming pools, and fishing lakes with dance floors.

Beach Music and Shag history show a culture celebrating individual uniqueness in the rituals of music and romance experienced by those who were dancing to their own destinies. The Beach Music community was like a ‘beta’ version of MySpace, a ‘flat’ world where everyone was equal, each member was in charge of their own self-expression and the accumulation of friends with whom they had common interests. The internet has simply made the field of dance partners much much larger.

“Fessa” John Hook is a 39 year broadcaster captains the Endless Summer Network of Beach and Shag music on the net.

His three books on Beach music and Shag are: “Shaggin’ in the Carolinas,” and the “Beach Music Guide 1945-2006, Vols 1 & 2″ and another, “Dancing On the Edge – How Music Freed the South,” coming in the fall of 2009.

“‘Shagging In the Carolinas,’ according to Hook, a Beach Music and Shag enthusiast, is a love letter that took 26 years to write.” –Sun Times newspaper

“Hook writes about how Shagging defied social conventions as carefree white teenagers were inspired by the possibilities inherent in improvisational black dance and music.” –Lexington Dispatch

“Hook knows what he’s talking about when it comes to Beach Music. As a broadcaster in the late 1980s, he was responsible for the first full-time Beach Music radio station in history….he chronicles the evolution of the dance….before the Lindy Hop, before the Jitterbug, came the Shag, a dance born and bred in the Carolinas.” –Our State magazine

Veteran broadcaster for 35+ years. Winner of Billboards magazine’s Program Director of the Year Award.

Hook is also an author/scholar/musicologist with three books on Beach Music and Shag culture in the Southeastern U.S.

Ways to Repair Registry Windows 98 Errors

December 12th, 2010

Ways to Repair Registry Windows 98 Errors

Although there are newer Microsoft Operating Systems such as 7 and Vista, Windows 98 is still widely used among computer users. This OS is one of the first to have the registry as a backbone of the OS, and is constantly troubled with registry problems. There are a lot of people that are using this system that have no idea how to resolve these annoying problems.

Mostly a registry windows 98 error happens when a registry key is invalid, possibly being left behind after a uninstall of a program by a poorly designed uninstall program. Left unattended this invalid key will cause a lot of problems as keys are used to point programs in the right direction so that they can get settings and configurations that they need to work.

The registry in Windows 98 is one of the most important parts of the Operating System. It is a database that stores important information that the hardware and software on your system need. If any of this information in it is corrupted or faulty your system may take longer to, or have strange error messages during the beginning stages of, boot up. This database is a complicated set of “keys” that are stored in a way that only your system will understand. You may find that programs and even the whole system crashes suddenly, and for no real reason. Overtime things can become even more unstable, almost to the point of your computer becoming unusable. The worse case is the dreaded “blue screen of death” which is in effect is your system having a “panic” as it tries, and fails, to find the data it needs to operate.

Therefore, finding an effective way to repair the registry in Windows 98 and maintain it is very important. It is difficult to manually go into the registry to attempt a repair unless you really know what you are doing. Even then there is the chance that instead of making things better, it is possible that you make a mistake and make things worse, possibly even causing the system to become completely unusable. In that situation if the data has not been backed up then it will be lost as you will have no choice but to reinstall Windows 98.

Another way to do any repairs is to use a registry cleaner. Specifically designed to scan, find and repair invalid keys in a few minutes this program is an effective way to find errors. Sometimes the problem can be as simple as an registry key that was left behind which is empty. When accessed by the program, there is no data to be provided. You can also use the registry cleaner to run a regular maintenance of the registry, avoiding any issues before they even begin.

Today it is very easy to find a registry cleaner to do repairs on the registry in your Windows 98. There is a wide range of choice of programs that can be instantly downloaded from the internet. From “free” to “commercial” choices, it can be confusing to know what is the best one to use. By getting a free program you are running the risk of adding a virus that may be been put into the free program by a malicious person. Therefore it is a good idea to invest in a reputable registry cleaner that you know will do the job without causing the registry in your Windows 98 OS any more damage.

Are you looking for more information on effective Registry Cleaners? Eric Martinez is an freelance Expert Author and a computer enthusiast who understands how you feel. Looking for a good and effective solution to the
registry windows 98 problem so that he did feel frustrated, Eric did the research and came up with some effective methods to fix registry errors that anyone can try.

What are some cheaper ways to improve horsepower?

November 14th, 2010

Question by guitar_playah: What are some cheaper ways to improve horsepower?
I have a 98 3.8L camaro and was wondering what i can do to improve performance, i know that i can get a cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust, but i would like some other ideas. Try to keep them under a thousand, not like a supercharger or anything

Best answer:

Answer by Bman49
Yeah you’ve got it. Upgrade the intake, upgrade/replace spark plugs, like you said aftermarket exhaust, you could try to then upgrade fuel components, and replace parts with lighter ones i.e lighter aftermarket rims. Also if it’s a manual upgrade the clutch. Also if you live some place like TX that doesn’t car much about emissions take out the Cat. converter.

At a certain time in one’s life, to get away from the hustle-bustle of an overcrowded city, one starts looking for a new home in a relatively quieter and peaceful locality. Consider the beautiful and luxurious suburb of Port Washington and its lavish homes. Only a few times in a year are the Port Washington homes for sale.

The town of Port Washington is located between the green hills and the water’s bay. In fact, one can view the expansive marina and the beaches while taking a stroll down the hills. The town is endowed with landscaping beauty in the form of exquisite parks that make perfect picnic spots. In fact, the peacefulness and availability of a number of theatres, restaurants and community centres have made this place a favourite with renowned artists and writers. All these reasons contribute to the fact that an opportunity of Port Washington homes for sale should not be missed; there is more often than not a large waiting list.

The main attraction of the Port Washington homes for sale is the houses themselves. The extraordinary houses range from the imposing ones from the Victorian era with sweeping pillars and wide balconies to the more contemporary homes with all the trappings of modernity and fantastic porticos overlooking the bay; there are also traditional cottages for the ones preferring to live in solitude.

Discounting the scenic splendour, there are a few things to be kept in mind while looking for Port Washington homes for sale.

The town is very close to the station of the Long Island Railroad hence for one concerned with their budget and looking to save on bus/cab rides from inside the city, opting for a Port Washington home that is nearer to the station is a smart choice. This combined with the fact that Port Washington homes for sale closer to the water’s edge are pricier than those near the station, due to the more upscale location and fantastic views; a home closer to the station is not a bad bargain. One should also look for homes that are farther west towards the bay area because the views from these are unmatched by houses further inland.

Properties in Port Washington and hence housing prices have increased phenomenally in recent years; some houses are priced at least 30% more than the same in New York. This is due to Port Washington’s increasing popularity as an upmarket neighbourhood; house owners have made fortunes selling off Port Washington homes for sale. But when one is a mere 35 minutes away from Manhattan but close enough to nature in a trendy, touristy town, the inflated prices are expected.

Another point that needs to be considered while buying Port Washington homes for sale is that the homes located in the low-lying areas and closer to the beach might have poor exterior condition and may require repairs. Also, make sure that there is no water logging in the basements. For people with children, take note that Port Washington homes come with a hefty school tax.

A Few of the Ways That People Can be Drawn Into Radio Talk Shows

June 6th, 2010

While there are many ways to gain information, the radio talk shows that you can tune into will provide you with a host of different programs to listen to. In general these radio talk shows will feature political discussions. The hosts of these talk shows will invite well known guest speakers to come and air their views. To get more people interested in what is occurring on these shows there are times when audience participation is invited.

Of course this audience participation is closely checked. The various dissenting views are allowed if they are not too controversial or antagonistic in nature. Likewise for advertising purposes views that can invoke more interest and calls from other listeners are welcomed.

The many different radio talk shows that you will have a chance of hearing don’t just stop at the political aspects of life. There are different shows where comedies, current events and contests are also discussed. These are a few of the ways that people can be drawn into the many radio talk shows.

When you are looking for a good radio talk show to listen to you will need to hear what the different shows have to offer you. You should be able to find entire channels that have various types of radio talk shows that will be of interest to you.

While some of these radio talk shows are ones that we can enjoy there are still others which are controversial in nature. With these radio stations you can see what the content of the show is like before you decide to call in and make any remarks.

You will find that these radio talk shows can be found in different countries around the world. They provide listeners with a way of airing their views. The subject matter that is chosen caters for a vast range of audiences. Besides the latest events that you will hear about in the news radio talk shows cover other subject that we are aware of only on a peripheral basis.

Some live radio talk shows will have programs that are similar in nature to an ongoing soap opera type of show. These kinds of broadcasts are very popular with the listeners of these radio stations. While this may seem to be old fashioned with the advent of television there are still places in the world where news and current events unfold before the listeners as they hear the radio talk shows.

What might be some ways how music affects reading and thinking?

June 3rd, 2010

I’ve taken a survey for school and discovered that people who play music are smarter than and read more than people who don’t play music. However, I need to think of some reasons to possibly explain why this is so. So far I have that people who play music have to read music a lot so reading becomes like second nature and also the people who play music have very strong and alert minds because they have to count musical notes and listen carefully.
Can you please help me think of just a few more reasons why I might have gotten my results. Thank you!!!!!

Promoting Your Music Online: Unsigned bands finding new ways of reaching their public

April 8th, 2010
