Kate Erin Gibson is Zelda William Luce’s THE LAST FLAPPER

June 18th, 2014

Kate Erin Gibson is Zelda William Luce’s THE LAST FLAPPER
Event on 2014-08-02 20:00:00

With a performance close to her birthday, we celebrate the muse to one of the greatest writers of her age, creator of the flappers of the ‘20s, a rambunctious southern belle, aspiring ballerina, and ultimately a woman whose mental health destroyed her during a time when help was beyond reach. Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald is a mythic presence in literary history with deep ties to Baltimore. F. Scott and Zelda would spend more of their marriage here than they would anywhere else, as Zelda’s schizophrenia, perhaps misdiagnosed, was treated at Sheppard Pratt and Johns Hopkins Phipp’s Clinic.

New York City actress Kate Erin Gibson’s passionate, one-woman performance directed by Carmela Lanza-Weill uses the language of Zelda’s letters, some of which were plagiarized by her author husband for his novels. Set in her psychiatrist’s office in an Asheville, North Carolina insane asylum on the last day of Zelda's life, the play unfolds as a hypnotic session. Zelda tells of her rebellion against the strictures of being raised a southern belle, of her glamorous but destructive marriage, and her ultimate mental disintegration. With costumes by Erin Heintzinger and sound design by Izze Gibson and Collin Warren. 8pm | , mbrs.

"A cry of the heart that relentlessly delivers the truth." – The New York Times

“…well-paced and well-rendered.” – Washington City Paper

“What makes this play so interesting is the fact that its text is made up primarily of Zelda’s own writings, in which she scorns her husband for never respecting her as an artist, and hiding her in his successful shadow; ‘I loved the artist in him, but I should have loved the artist in myself – and he should have, also.’” – DC Metro Theater Arts

“Scott and Zelda were buried in Rockville, Maryland – originally in the Rockville Union Cemetery, away from his family plot. In 1975, however, Scottie successfully campaigned for them to be buried with the other Fitzgeralds at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Inscribed on their tombstone is the final sentence of The Great Gatsby: "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." Wikipedia

“The cellphone will change the radio landscape by not only establishing a two-way modality but by ushering in new models for advertising that are mapped to people’s musical tastes and that are perhaps locally relevant as well, thanks to GPS. This may be one of the most promising mobile ad formats and is a space to watch.”

Was it an accident… or was it planned? fm Secretary of Education William Bennet = Student of Leo Strauss?

September 6th, 2012

Question by : Was it an accident… or was it planned? fm Secretary of Education William Bennet = Student of Leo Strauss?
Leo Strauss was a student of Nazi Germany…….. taught the culture of Nazi Germany to many US leaders

then suddenly these students of Leo Strauss ended up in D.C. …….

students of Leo Strauss = Former Secretary of Education William Bennet………..Justice Clarence Thomas; Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork; Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz;; Weekly Standard editor and former Quayle Chief of Staff William Kristol; Allan Bloom, author of The Closing of the American Mind; former New York Post editorials editor John Podhoretz; former National Endowment for the Humanities Deputy Chairman John T. Agresto;

Critics of Strauss accuse him of being elitist, illiberalist and anti-democratic. Shadia Drury, in Leo Strauss and the American Right (1999), argues that Strauss inculcated an elitist strain in American political leaders linked to imperialist militarism, neoconservatism and Christian fundamentalism. Drury argues that Strauss teaches that “perpetual deception of the citizens by those in power is critical because they need to be led, and they need strong rulers to tell them what’s good for them.” Nicholas Xenos similarly argues that Strauss was “an anti-democrat in a fundamental sense, a true reactionary. According to Xenos, “Strauss was somebody who wanted to go back to a previous, pre-liberal, pre-bourgeois era of blood and guts, of imperial domination, of authoritarian rule, of pure fascist

The United States policies are being run by an obscure German Jewish political philosopher whose views were elitist, amoral and hostile to democratic government? Suddenly, political Washington is abuzz about Leo Strauss, who arrived in the US in 1938 and taught at several major universities before his death in 1973.

It was planned by another socializes as soon as he was elected president in 2008.Bennett is only one of several socializes/communist people floating around in top positions in this administration.Nothing we can do about it until 2012.
