The 2011 theme was “The Real Empire State of Mind: Building Wealth and Legacy for our Families”. The honorees were such notables as Alfred Edmond of Black Enterprise, Michael Grant of the National Bankers Association, composer Rev. Nolan Williams, Congressman John Lewis, Gerard Bonner of, Edgar Brookins of the Afro-American Newspaper, Darnell Lee of W & T Travel Services. Tributes were done by Danni, Wayne Jennings, Greg Watkins, Vashawn McIllwain, CMO, Brandon Camphor & OneWay, Xavier Mack, David James, and Harold Jones. Genius For Men brings honor and innovation to DC through a men’s empowerment forum that celebrates male achievement, fosters community between men and women, and honors men who seek to transcend the limits within their professions. This conference is unique in that it is birthed out of the philosophy that a stronger community is partly dependent on the growth and success of our boys and men. This will be an opportunity for men between ages 11 — 18 to gain information on succeeding in the fields such as the music industry, law, hard sciences, and business. The Genius Award honorees are men who have exemplified excellence in their professional careers and social outreach.
