How does Washington take into account the racially hostile climate that prevailed in the south during the progressive era? Is Du bois’s criticism of Washington accurate?
Hi im really not sure what the question above is asking..and was wondering if anyone knows the answer because i have to write a three paragraph essay about it and support my answers but im not sure about the question. Thanks.
sorry it was Booker T. Wasington “The atlanta Exposition address”

Washington, the President?
Washington, the City?
Who said there was a racially hostile climate there? Who said it prevailed. Very bad question. Tell your teacher to try harder.
Racial hostility was easily settled. If a person caused a problem they were killed. End of problem.
Is it the intellectual/political principles that defined Booker T Washington and W.E. Dupois that you are asked to discuss?
Washington was of the “school of slavery” belief: Learn how to cope with modern White European society, advance yourself by your own efforts, and succeed by assimilation.
DuBois was of a black nationalist persuasion, demanding recognition of the superior aspects of the black American experience, and urging a public, political campaign.
