How long does it take to become a resident of Washington state?

I want to get in state residency so i don’t have to pay out of state tuition if and when i got to school at Universtity of Washington.

    I looked into it for the same reason. You become a resident (as far as UW is concerned) one year after establishing a mailing address, drivers license or state ID, and some type of utility. I thought about going there, getting a P.O. Box and a Cell phone and then moving later, but I don’t know how hard it is to get a Washington ID or Driver’s license.

    There are other ways of getting lower tuition even if you are not a resident. I moved from WA to CO and paid instate because of an exchange program. Check out http://wue.wiche.edu/ if this does not work for you check with colleges. They don’t like to advertise but most have some kind of exchange program.
